South Dust Rides is a six-day, fully supported gravel experience based in Punta del Este. We've mapped the best dirt roads of Uruguay's south — quiet, rolling, endless — and wrapped them in everything you need: handpicked lodging, real food, airport transfers, a support vehicle, a mechanic and a guide who knows every turn. You ride. We handle the rest.

Fly into Carrasco Airport (Montevideo, MVD) and arrive by Saturday, March 20 — we recommend spending that night at an airport hotel. Your trip starts on Sunday, March 21, when we pick you up (from the airport or your Montevideo hotel) and head to Punta del Este. You ride six days, March 21 to 26. On Saturday, March 27 we check out and drive you back to Montevideo, so book your return flight for Sunday, March 28 — and a hotel for the night of the 20th. Like the arrival night, that one is on you.

Every day ends around food worth riding for. We pair refined, carefully sourced cooking with the real thing: Uruguayan asado over open fire, local producers, wine from nearby vineyards, and long shared tables where the day gets retold. Premium when it should be, honest and native always — because after 120 km on gravel, dinner isn't a detail. It's the reward.
Every stage is the same line on the map. What changes is the rhythm you ride it at, so nobody spends the week chasing wheels or waiting at the top of a climb.

You should be comfortable riding several hours on consecutive days. There's a rest day on Day 4 and a support vehicle every stage, so you can always shorten a day.
Mostly gravel and dirt roads — rolling, open and low-traffic — with some paved sections linking routes. Uruguay's south is not flat, but it's not high mountain either.
Yes. E-bikes and mountain bikes both work on these routes — bring the bike you're comfortable spending six long days on. One thing to plan for if you're on an e-bike: you can charge overnight at the accommodation, but there's no charging on the road and the support vehicle doesn't carry spare batteries. Make sure your range covers the full stage.
The support vehicle is there for exactly that. Hop in whenever you need and rejoin later or head to the hotel.
A gravel bike with 40 mm tyres or wider. You can ride it on something narrower without any real problem, but 40 mm and up is what we recommend for comfort over six consecutive days. If you don't have a bike, we arrange rentals with local providers: tell us in advance and we'll sort out size, model and price with you.
Our mechanic is with you all week and their work is included. Spare parts aren't: if your bike needs a tyre, a chain or a derailleur, we'll fit it and charge you what it cost.
Fly into Carrasco International Airport (MVD), Montevideo. Arrive by Saturday, March 13 — we recommend staying that night at an airport hotel (this night is not included). Your trip begins Sunday, March 21. We check out on Saturday, March 27 and drive you back to Montevideo, so book your return flight for Sunday, March 28 and a hotel for the night of the 20th — that night isn't included either.
We pick you up on Sunday, March 21 — either at Carrasco Airport or at your Montevideo accommodation — and transfer you to Punta del Este. Share your flight and hotel details after booking.
One base for the whole week in the Punta del Este area: you unpack once, sleep in the same bed every night and ride light. Breakfast, secure bike storage and laundry are all included — you wake up to a clean kit and a bike that slept indoors. Rooms are twin/shared or private single, depending on the package you book, and every dinner is shared. We confirm the exact address with you once your spot is booked: we choose the place for comfort, food and access to the routes, not for a star rating.
All meals are included — breakfast, lunch, dinner and on-bike snacks. Tell us about allergies or dietary needs (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free) when you book.
Yes. We move you, your bike and your luggage between Carrasco Airport (or your Montevideo accommodation) and Punta del Este at both ends of the week. During the week we sleep in the same base every night, so there's nothing to pack and move — you ride light and come back to the same room.
Yes, if we have space. Their stay includes accommodation and meals with the group, and we agree the price with you case by case — just tell us when you request your spot. If the edition is fully booked, we'll point you to good places to stay nearby.
Spots go on sale on September 30, 2026. Until then you can join the waitlist: leave your details and we'll email you the moment booking opens, before we announce it anywhere else. When it opens, you'll secure your spot with a 10% deposit online and the balance is due 10 weeks before the event.
See our Refund Policy. In short: the 10% deposit is non-refundable. Cancel more than 70 days before the start and the deposit is all you lose; 70–43 days before, the charge is 50% of the total price; 42–15 days, 75%; 14 days or fewer, there's no refund. Up to 30 days before the start you can transfer your place to another rider.
Prices are in US dollars, paid online by card.
Each edition needs a minimum of 10 riders to run. If we cancel — for minimum numbers or force majeure — you choose between a full refund of everything you've paid us, deposit included, or a credit towards a future edition. For minimum-numbers cancellations we'll let you know at least 8 weeks before the start date.
Yes. Travel and medical insurance covering cycling is required. We'll ask for confirmation before the trip.
Mid-March in Maldonado is late summer: warm days (roughly low-to-mid 20s °C), cooler mornings and evenings, some chance of rain and coastal wind. Pack layers and a light rain jacket.

Small on purpose: 10 to 15 riders per edition, so support and attention stay personal.
Most nationalities don't need a visa to enter Uruguay as a tourist, but it depends on your passport. Check the official requirements from Uruguay's Ministry of Foreign Affairs before booking your flights.
Wifi is included at the accommodation. Mobile coverage on the routes is good most of the time but not continuous in the most remote sections. If you want reliable data all week, we recommend an eSIM over international roaming.
